The Community Foundation in Swindon Town celebrates after being awarded £50,000 to help build a new state-of-the-art indoor community sports facility.

The money for the development about to take shape on the former site of the County Ground Bowls Club has been granted by South Swindon Parish Council.

Foundation leader Jon Holloway said: “We are extremely grateful to South Swindon Parish Council for awarding this funding, which has helped us achieve our goal for the facility. We are very pleased to be able to take Foundation Park to the next level and provide this facility to the people of Swindon.

“We believe the indoor sports facility will provide the most vulnerable and disadvantaged members of our community with new opportunities and new ways to engage at the heart of the community, while building on the success of Foundation Park. and increasing the capacity of the entire site.

Chairman of South Swindon Parish Council Chris Watts said: “The services provided by the STFC Community Foundation go beyond the mission of the excellent youth football program and this new arena provides multi-sport activity and community centered essential. hub for the whole community.

“The foundation’s commitment to reaching out to all generations, for example by offering activities to combat isolation and loneliness or by promoting pathways to better physical fitness and well-being in the parish is impressive.

“South Swindon Parish Council is pleased to work with the foundation to help bring about these positive results in our community.”
