NEW YORK — The 27th EU-Gulf Cooperation Council ministerial meeting was held on Thursday with the participation of Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, chairman of the current session of the GCC Ministerial Council, as well as of the High Representative of the European Union. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York and with the participation of foreign ministers and senior officials of the GCC.

The meeting reviewed the prospects for Gulf-Europe relations, which are based on a long history of understanding, cooperation and the achievement of common interests, as well as the importance of intensifying Gulf-Europe action to ensure the achievement of international peace and security. He underlined the consolidation of joint action in the field of environmental preservation and the fight against climate change in accordance with global initiatives in this regard.

The meeting also discussed ways to support and provide all investment facilities for the corporate sector in the Gulf countries and Europe.

The meeting discussed trade facilitation mechanisms between the GCC countries and the European Union, as well as the latest developments in the activation of agreements and MoUs between the two parties and the mutual interest in the promotion and development of trade and economic relations.

The meeting also discussed developments in the political and security situation in the region and regional and international issues of common concern. He stressed the importance of continuing coordination between the two sides and strengthening areas of cooperation in the service of common interests.
