Carolyn Elaine Muncy, 91, of Lewes, died at home on Sunday July 24, 2022. She was born October 6, 1930 in Milford, daughter of the late Miles Elwood and Elsie F. (Bickle) Argo.

Ms. Muncy has had a long career as a dental hygienist, working for various dental practices in Wilmington and Sussex County. She was a dedicated volunteer at Beebe Hospital and also worked in their radiology department for several years. Ms Muncy was a staunch member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rehoboth Beach, where she was a former deacon and most recently a member of New Covenant Presbyterian Church in Lewes.

Mrs. Muncy had many and varied interests and hobbies, including writing and painting. She was a foodie and loved going to all the restaurants in town with her friends, known as the ladies of the 80s and trying new dishes. A talented and astute ceramicist, Mrs. Muncy owned a ceramics business which she operated for many years. She could often be found watching Nancy Grace, one of her favorite TV personalities. His devotion to his family, however, prevailed above all else. Time spent with those she treasured the most was what she treasured the most. Mrs. Muncy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Loved by many, she will be deeply and sincerely missed by all who had the chance to know her.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Muncy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Thomas Walter Muncy; and his granddaughter, Jennifer Erin Muncy. She is survived by her children: Robert Keith Muncy (Linda) of Milford and Janet E. Sockriter (Michael) of Lewes; his grandchildren: Heather Landis (Nate) of Lewes, Joshua Muncy (Kaila) of Milford, Christopher Sockriter (Valarie) of Lewes and Sarah E. Croce of Milford; his great-grandchildren: McKenna and Nevaeh Landis of Lewes, Haizley Jem Muncy of Milford, Kailee and Sophie Sockriter of Lewes, and Michael Sockriter of Lewes, Emily E. and Grant J. Croce of Milford.

The family would like to give special thanks to Mrs Muncy’s caregiver, Ann Delaney, and all the staff at Seasons Hospice/Accent Care, and Laurie Westwood and her team of caretakers for the great care they provided to mum. .

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 4, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes, where friends can call beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow services at All Saints’ Cemetery, 20274 Beaver Dam Road, Rt. 23, Harbeson.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Mrs. Muncy’s memory to Brandywine Valley SPCA, 22918 DuPont Blvd., Georgetown, DE 19947.
